Essential Oils for Hair Growth

Essential oils for hair growth really does work. First and foremost, women need to understand that hair loss, chronic or temporary can be due to a number of factors (stress, hormonal imbalances, poor diet, environment, poor hair care) and that using essential oils cannot rectify hair damage solely. Maintain a proper diet, rich in fresh fruits and vegetables and high in mono saturated fats (olive oil), fiber and omega 3-fatty acids. Reduce stress as much as possible and if you are undergoing a specific treatment as a result of a health condition, talk to your doctor about natural treatments that may reduce the consequences of hair loss.

Essential Oils for Hair Growth

One of the best ways to get the full benefits of essential oils is to add it to your daily conditioning treatment. Use coconut oil (moderately warmed), rose hip seed oil, and primrose oil as base conditioners. Take an empty plastic bottle and fill in 1/3 of these oils together, shaking the bottle to mix the contents well. Massage these oils into the hair scalp (and really massage the scalp to stimulate hair growth) three to four times a week. Massage oils into the head before bed and wrap hair in a silk or satin scarf.

Basil is another essential oil for hair growth. Some people love to use fenugreek in addition to a couple of drops of basil as a hair conditioner base. Both work together to improve scalp circulation and stimulate hair growth. Rosemary also promotes hair growth; just be careful using. It is not recommended that pregnant or nursing women use rosemary as well as people diagnosed with hypertension.

Essential Oils of Black Hair Growth

African-American women with the tight-curl pattern can benefit well from jojoba oil. Mix a couple drops of jojoba with your favorite hair cream and apply to weak, thinning edges AND the hair's ends (to prevent split ends). Jojoba works to strengthen weak and damaged hair from over processing or chemical-laden hair. When undergoing a conditioner treatment after shampooing, mix jojoba with a protein-based conditioner and let the conditioner set for 15 to 30 minutes under a heated dryer or towel. The essential oils will penetrate the hair follicles, allowing the strands to become stronger and more resistant to damage.

Essential Oils for Dry Scalp

Caucasian and African-American hair can both be extremely dry and susceptible to dandruff. Apply tea tree oil and lavender to a conditioning treatment to cut down on dry, itchy scalp.
