How to Be a Promotional Model

Types of Promotional Modeling
There are several different types of
promotional work you do that best suites your skills and
personality. Note that not every type of promotional work may be right for you -- I can attest to this myself (I am really not that into guerilla marketing strategies, but I do love in-store demos). Here is a quick breakdown of the many different divisions in modeling (and average pay rate).
1.Spokesmodeling or Tradeshow Models:
Convention models as they are mostly called, promote a company or product at high
end business convention. Convention models are the highest paid (on
average earning $50+ per hr) because must adhere to a certain look
and professional standard.
2.Product Demonstrator & In-Store Marketers: Product demonstrators are mostly brand ambassadors that selected to engage the consumer with live interaction on how a product works. These can be really fun promotions when brand ambassadors participate in give-a-ways, free product samples, and games.
3.Nightclub or Bar Promotors: Nightclub models are hired to drive mostly liquor sales at nightclub venues or concerts. The pay can be very competitive, but the look to be a nightclub promoter is pretty stringent. Modeling agencies want night club promo models to have a sex appeal look. Promo models are expected to work late nights/early mornings shifts and travel a lot to various bars (sometimes out of state).
4.Street Teams & Guerrilla Style Marketing:
The most challenging type (in my opinion) are the street team brand ambassadors -- or a large group of BAs that work really hard to drive consumer awareness
on a brand, service, or product in high public areas. You will see street team brand ambassadors and promotional models at large outdoor concert venues, fairs or festivals, or downtown areas wanting you to sign up for something. While street teams hardly ever sell anything, the main goal is to push product/company information on people in the efforts of getting them to invest in their product in the future. Brand ambassadors have to get a certain amount of signees during a certain amount of time to get their job done. Can be very high paced and tiring.
How to Sign up as a Promotional Model
Go online a do a search for "event staffing agencies" or "promotional modeling agencies" to see what comes up in your area. Try Eventspeak.com or Craigslist Events or Talent to see daily promo postings.

I would also add Full Access Experiential www.FullAccessExp.com to your list. I've worked with them on/off for 2 years now and they are actually better than some of the ones you have listed. When I say better I mean I get paid a lot faster and the promos are usually $18 - $21hr. I hope this help!

I saw that you left me a comment on my hub "My Summer As A Promotional Model". Thank you Ceholmes! I still need to update my hub with my sources as I promised so long ago I'd do, but I've been busy and haven't made ita priority. I see you've written about promotional modeling as well. And good for you to include the sources. So hey thanks for stopping by. I enjoyed your very expansive article which goes a step beyond mine to give the "types" of promotional modeling. Loved it. Now why didn't I think of that? Ciao Ceholmes!
